Educational Research has proven that next to the parent, the most important variable in the education and the academic performance of a student is YOU the TEACHER. The research also proved that the teacher who shows personal interest, expresses sincere concern, and demonstrates that s/he really cares about the students individually and collectively will have easier 'engagement' and interactions with them. These students will excel and achieve more academically than those students who have teachers who communicate that they don't care.

As your English Language Arts Content Coach, you can be assured of complete confidentiality regarding the collaborations and discussions we will be having. If you agree to seriously embrace change, and modify the ways in which you perceive, treat, and interact with our young scholars, and most importantly, raise your level of expectation of our students, I can assure you that by the end of our collaboration your teaching and and instruction will improve significantly, and your student's grades and scores for your classes will reflect a significant increase.

You can expect: To meet with me so that we may learn about one another, what I do, and begin to share your concerns; Me to talk with your Principal or his/her designee about you, their perception of your work, your in-house relationships, and your interaction with students; Me to observe your teaching, examine your lesson plans, talk with you about my observations and assessment, and then collaborate about what the 'next steps' should be. We will together create a plan of work based on our discussions and present it to your administrator for approval. The plan of work may include but is not limited to specific professional development activities including inservices, workshops, webinars, professional conferences; peer observations and evaluations, participation in professional learning communities, on-going conferencing with your coach, reviewing professional teacher and/or educational periodicals, journals, and publications; perusing relevant online internet resources; revisiting Michigan Curriculum Framework, GLCEs and Benchmarks, especially as they relate to the subject area(s) you teach; Examine Test DATA which should be driving instruction: including your pupil's District and State test scores, more specifically the item analysis and also pupil grades earned from you then identify and prioritize those areas that must be addressed. After identifying those areas of deficiency or skill areas needing improvement, we will find resources, instructional strategies (research based and proven), and highly motivating pupil activities to use with/for our young scholars. Upon administration approval, we will begin the work together.
